Problem to solve

High-resolution laser spectroscopy aims at the molecular detection of various substances even in trace amounts in solid or liquid matrices, depending on the field of ??interest. For example, in the field of preventive medicine, there is currently a great need for a rapid, economical and effective diagnostic method suitable to mass screening for the prevention of tumor pathology in humans.

Description

In the field of biomedical diagnostics, the LASER SPECTROSCOPY LABORATORY belonging to the NUC-TECFIS-DIM Unit has accepted from the University of Linkoping (Sweden) the assignment of technical-scientific activities for the demonstration of the feasibility of the use of spectroscopy (of absorption or scattering of laser light) associated with chemometry and Machine Learning, in serum samples for the rapid diagnostic screening of tumor pathology in humans. Phase I activities are still ongoing.

Innovative aspects and advantages

  • Proposal for a rapid, economical and effective diagnostic method applicable to mass screening for the prevention of tumor pathology.
