SOEC/SOFC: Lab-scale testing facility for solid oxide electrolysers and fuel cells
Application sectors
Problem to solve
Considering the path of SOFC/SOEC technology towards its availability in the energy market, and with the aim of employing hydrogen as an energy vector with high efficiencies, a lack of infrastructures and scientific and technical knowledge between basic research and the industrial production of systems is observed, ultimately resulting in a slow development and scale-up of new generation electrolysers and fuel cells. This research infrastructure can potentially make up for these shortcomings, making available to all companies in the energy sector interested in developing this technology what is necessary to bring new generations of SOFC/SOEC cells, modules and systems from the prototype stage to the first industrial development.
Description
The research infrastructure provides tools, facilities and scientific expertise aimed at improving solid oxide technology in the electrochemical production and use of hydrogen, through in-depth investigations at various technological levels and power scales, in order to provide information and data that will help companies progressing towards the first industrial deployment of the technology.
