Problem to solve

Optimization of energy flows in the context of collective self-consumption through the implementation of innovative logic for the management of thermal energy generation and storage systems

Description

The current configuration of the S.A.P.I.EN.T.E. system includes: i) an electric power generation section consisting of an 11.6 kWp photovoltaic system and two thermo-photovoltaic (PVT) systems of 6.4 kWp and 2.24 kWp; ii) an electric storage system consisting of no.4 supercapacitors of 3.55 kWh each, an additional electrical storage system consisting of no.3 supercapacitors of 5.5kWh each and a lithium iron phosphate battery of 4.45 kWh; iii) A thermal storage system consisting of two 1500-liter tanks for hot&cold and a 1000-liter tank for domestic hot water. Iv) a thermal generation system consisting of a 30 kWt heat pump and a heat pump dedicated to domestic hot water production only with 500 liter thermal storage ; V) a thermal load emulation system consisting of two drycoolers (hot-cold and DHW); VI) a real thermal load that can be activated when needed by enabling the existing connection with one of the risers of the distribution system of the F-83 building at Casaccia; VII) an electrical load profile emulation system consisting of no.3 15 kVA electronic loads. The components are contained within No. 3 vibrated reinforced concrete electrical substations. Management and monitoring of the S.A.P.I.EN.T.E. system is carried out through control logics implemented on a PLC and by various I-O modules. A SCADA control system and a control system based on hardware and open-source software for the semiautomatic application of Demand Side Management and Demand Response thermal logics are afferent to that PLC.
